Jebel Jais Mountain
The mountain offers an escape from the heat of the UAE’s summer months as its temperature is typically recorded at 10 degrees Celsius less than sea level. This makes the summit a popular location for residents and tourists to escape the heat whilst also enjoying the adventure that the outdoors has to offer. Watching the sun set over the picturesque mountain range is a welcome change for many from the typical summer views from inside an air-conditioned room.
Although the bending roads make the drive up the mountain extremely popular with car enthusiasts, the route down the mountain has arguably made Jebel Jais infinitely more popular over the last year. In February 2018, Toro Verde opened the world’s longest Zip line experience, stretching 2.83km through the mountain air, which is as long as 28 soccer pitches! Strapped headfirst into a harness, the flight down the mountain is definitely not for the faint hearted, welcoming thrill seekers ages 16-65. With descending speed of 120-150 kmph, you may find yourself traveling down the mountain faster than you could drive up in a supercar.
The quaint café, Puro is a perfect spot to stop and untie your stomach knots after whizzing down the mountain and enjoy a perfectly baked pizza, fresh salad or even just a coffee, whilst overlooking the mountain view.
Jebel Jais is the perfect day out for those with a passion for the outdoors; whether you choose to climb up it, fly down it or stick to the thrill of the winding roads, Jais certainly is a place you don’t want to miss!
